The software

How does the software work?

You choose a source (a YouTuber, a topic, a niche or a link), a length and a format. The software searches YouTube videos, ranks them on their real statistics, transcribes the selected video on your computer, detects the strongest passage that makes sense on its own, then cuts it, reframes it, captions it word by word and exports it as an .mp4 with a thumbnail, caption and hashtags.

How long does a clip take?

Usually 2 to 6 minutes, depending on the clip length, the format (portrait requires face analysis) and the power of your computer. The very first clip takes a few more minutes: the transcription engine (≈ 480 MB) is downloaded only once.

Are clips always exactly the requested length?

Within about ±10%: the cut always falls on a complete sentence rather than in the middle of a word. For example, 30 seconds requested gives a clip between 27 and 33 seconds.

Does the software use Claude, ChatGPT or another online AI service?

No. The software uses neither Claude, nor ChatGPT, nor any paid AI API. Transcription is done by an open-source Whisper model running on your computer; analysis and editing are computed locally. You need no account and no API key.

Can I use any YouTube video?

By default, the software only uses videos published under a Creative Commons license (reuse allowed) and credits the author in the caption. For any other video, it asks you to confirm that you have the creator's permission; without confirmation, the video is skipped. You remain responsible for the content you publish, and the use of YouTube is subject to its own terms.

Why can a generation fail?

Possible causes: YouTube temporarily blocks access (“anti-bot check”), no video matches your search, the video is private, your connection is down or your disk is full. The software automatically tries the next videos and shows you a clear message. If YouTube changes how it works, a software update fixes the problem.

Subscription and license

How much does the software cost?

Two plans, with exactly the same features: €19 incl. tax per month, or €149 incl. tax per year (that's €12.42 per month, 35% savings). All updates are included.

Is the number of clips limited?

No. Generation is unlimited in both plans: no quota, no credits, no per-video fee. The only limit is the processing time of your computer (usually 2 to 6 minutes per clip).

Is there a commitment? How do I cancel?

No commitment. You cancel whenever you want from your order page (“Manage my subscription” button) or from the app (Settings → License → “Manage my subscription”). The subscription stops at the end of the period already paid: you keep access until then and are not charged afterwards.

What happens at the end of my subscription?

The software locks and invites you to subscribe again. The clips you already created stay in your Videos folder: they belong to you and are never deleted.

What if my payment fails?

Stripe automatically retries for a few days. The software keeps working 3 days after the end of the paid period, giving you time to update your card from “Manage my subscription”.

Do I need to be online for the subscription to work?

The software checks your subscription in the background, once a day when you are online. Offline, it works normally until the end of your paid period (plus 3 days); after that, you just need to go online once for it to pick up your renewal.

How do I activate the software?

Open the app and sign in with the email address and password of the account you created on the website when subscribing: it activates by itself, no code to type. Your customer area (My account) gathers your subscription, your downloads and payment management. Subscription bought before accounts existed: your activation code remains valid (“I have an activation code” button in the app) and you can find it again via Find my subscription.

How do I activate my license?

Open the app, paste your code (format XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX) and click “Activate”. An Internet connection is required for this step. After that, the app opens normally at each launch, without asking for the code again.

Can I use the software on several computers?

A subscription works on one computer at a time. To change computers, simply sign in on the new one: the app offers to move your subscription there and signs out the old one (up to 3 changes per month; beyond that, support takes care of it). Lost computer: sign it out from your customer area. For two computers used at the same time, you need two subscriptions. A subscription can move from a Mac to a Windows PC (and vice versa) the same way.

My computer is lost, stolen or broken: how do I get my license back?

Write to support with your order number: we release your license from the old device so you can activate it on the new one.

What if my activation fails?

Check your Internet connection and the code (16 characters, dashes are optional). The message shown indicates the cause: unknown code, code already activated on another computer (deactivate the old one or contact support), or license deactivated. If the problem persists, contact support with the exact message.

I'm reinstalling the software or the system: do I need a new subscription?

No. Sign in again with your account after reinstalling: on the same computer, access comes back immediately. On another computer, the app offers to move your subscription.

Can I get a refund?

As the software is delivered immediately, the right of withdrawal no longer applies once the code has been provided (you accept this when subscribing). If the software does not work on your compatible computer and support cannot solve the problem, we refund your first payment. Cancelling stops future charges; the current period is not refunded pro rata: see the refund policy.

Installation and use

How do I install the software?

Mac: download the .dmg file from your order page, open it and drag the app into “Applications”. On first launch, macOS may display “cannot verify the developer”: right-click the app → Open → Open (or System Settings → Privacy & Security → “Open Anyway”).

Windows: run the .exe installer (no administrator rights required). If SmartScreen displays “Windows protected your PC”, click “More info” → “Run anyway”.

Which computers are compatible?

Macs with Apple silicon (M1, M2, M3, M4 and later) running macOS 12 or later, and PCs running Windows 10 (version 1809 or later) or Windows 11 64-bit. Macs with an Intel processor are not supported at the moment.

Does the software require the Internet?

Yes for: activation, the subscription check (see above), reading YouTube videos and the first download of the transcription engine. No for: transcription, analysis, editing, captions and browsing your library, computed on your computer. Once activated, the software opens even offline during your paid period.

Where are my videos saved?

In your Videos folder → Viral Clip Factory, sorted by date. You can change the folder in the settings. Each clip comes with its thumbnail, captions (.srt), caption text and a description sheet.

How do I uninstall the software?

Mac: drag the app to the Trash; to also erase the settings, the activation and the transcription engine, delete the folder ~/Library/Application Support/Viral Clip Factory. Windows: Settings → Apps → Viral Clip Factory → Uninstall; the data is in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Viral Clip Factory. Remember to deactivate your license first if you want to use it on another computer. Uninstalling does not cancel the subscription: cancel it from your order page.
